Scope note: SKU HC9319BGU23, the iron-sighted black base configuration, and picking it took more care than usual because ALMOST THE ENTIRE HELLCAT 3" LINE IS MARKED DISCONTINUED. The plain HC9319B is retired, and so is every fiber-optic and OSP SKU; the only current 9 mm listings carry a "GU23" suffix. Worse, five different URL slugs — the plain one plus the fiber-optic, stainless, robins-egg-blue and Desert FDE paths — all serve the SAME retired HC9319B page, so a record built by picking a plausible-looking colour URL would have been sourced from a discontinued SKU without anything looking wrong. Springfield never expands "GU23" on the page, so this record does not expand it either, following the Echelon's "4.5F" rule. The substitution is safe on the numbers and that was checked rather than assumed: the retired HC9319B and the current HC9319BGU23 were compared field by field, 12 fields, and only the SKU differs. Separate listings under the base-model rule: the OSP optics-ready SKUs, the RDP, Pro, Pro Comp, the .380 ACP, the Firstline and low-capacity variants, and the manual-safety configurations. ALL THREE ACTION AXES ARE UNSET, and the evidence that tempts otherwise is worth spelling out because it comes from three directions.
