THE ENTIRE RECORD IS SOURCED FROM WEB ARCHIVE CAPTURES OF HK'S OWN SITE, AND THE REASON IS BOT PROTECTION RATHER THAN ABSENCE. hk-usa.com serves a Cloudflare "Just a moment..." interstitial to every request including robots.txt, which this project does not attempt to defeat — the PSA and Shadow Systems rule. The archive is the already-approved alternative and it holds the whole site: this record's product page, launch release and warranty are all manufacturer-authored pages captured intact. Each capture was checked for content before use, because an archived URL can be a preserved challenge page that returns HTTP 200 like anything else (the Beretta trap); all three are real. The most recent HTTP 200 capture was used for each. NOTE WHAT THAT MEANS FOR CURRENCY: unlike the Colt Government Model, whose endpoint is dead and cannot be superseded, the VP9 is in production, so this record is as-published at 2025-02-16 and could drift from HK's current listing without anything here changing. THE ROUTE THAT LOOKS RIGHT AND IS NOT, RECORDED SO IT IS NOT REDISCOVERED: heckler-koch.com, HK's international site, is served normally with no challenge and publishes a full technical specification block. It cannot back this record. HK sells this pistol in Europe as the SFP9 and the string "VP9" does not appear anywhere in that site's sitemap — so recording SFP9 data under a VP9 slug would be an identity claim made by this directory rather than by HK, which is the Colt O1911C-SS rule inverted. That page is also a product-FAMILY page which says in its own words that "dimensions and weights may vary depending on the configuration", and its dimension and weight values are not in the served HTML at all. It would support a genuine SFP9 record and nothing else. THE TWO PUBLISHED WEIGHT FIGURES DO NOT RECONCILE AND BOTH ARE RECORDED. HK gives 753 g and 25.56 oz under a row headed "Weight (with empty magazine)"; 753 g is 26.56 oz, and 25.56 oz is about 724 g. The gap is a full ounce and the digits differ by one, so it looks like a transcription slip in the imperial figure — but this directory converted neither, so flagging one as `converted` would pin HK's arithmetic on the directory, and picking the "right" one would be a repair rather than a record. Both stand, disclosed here, exactly as CZ's 1330 g against 46.5 oz does. Every other pair on the page reconciles: 186.5 mm/7.34 in, 137.5 mm/5.41 in, 33.5 mm/1.32 in, 104 mm/4.09 in and 24 N/5.4 lb all check out, so the discrepancy is confined to one row. The weight basis needs no inference for once — HK heads the row "with empty magazine" itself, the Desert Eagle case. IGNITION IS RECORDED, THE OTHER TWO AXES ARE NOT, AND ONE OF THEM IS A CLOSE CALL. HK writes that "VP Series pistols use a striker fired ignition and a modified Browning operating system", which names the ignition axis in the maker's own words — the launch release independently calls the VP9 "its new striker fired pistol". A modified Browning system is a LOCKING method rather than one of this directory's cycling values, so `operatingSystem` stays unset on the CZ Shadow 2 precedent, where "locked breech system" was refused for the same reason. Note the international SFP9 page publishes "Operating Principle: Recoil-Operated" outright, and it is not used here for the naming reason above. HK's specification table lists 10 / 15 / 17 and designates none as standard; this record is keyed to the two-17-round SKU, so 17 is standard and the other two are the optional figures HK publishes. The page separately describes "the previous 15-round versions", which is why 15 is still listed. Separate listings under the base-model rule: the 10-round SKU 81000223, the night-sight configurations, the Optics Ready and Holosun packages, and the whole VP9-B line, which differs by a push-button magazine release.
